Classroom Terms
Last updated: 30 October 2026
Applies to: institutes, instructors and students who use xΛTrader's classrooms
In short. An institute runs classrooms in xΛTrader. Its instructors share strategies with their students, who each receive their own copy to study and test, and may not pass it on. Instructors see their students' user names and the class strategies they hold, not their e-mail addresses, their other strategies or their results. Everyone in a classroom has their own account and must be 18 or older.
1. Who is who
- The institute: a school, college, academy or company that arranges classrooms with us.
- Institute administrators manage the institute's classrooms, and approve the instructors who ask to join it.
- Instructors run classrooms: they give students the classroom's join code, arrange students in groups, and share strategies.
- Students join a classroom with its join code.
Each person uses their own xΛTrader account under the Terms of Use. These Classroom Terms add to them for classroom use.
2. Setting up an institute
We set up an institute on request, under an arrangement with it that fixes how many classrooms and seats it has, and which features and limits come with a seat. Where that arrangement says something different from these terms, the arrangement applies between us and the institute. Until xΛTrader's public launch, classrooms are open only to institutes we invite to test them.
3. Joining and leaving
- A student joins a classroom with its join code while it has a free seat, and is in one of its groups at a time.
- An instructor or an administrator can move a student to another group, or remove a student. A student can leave a classroom at any time.
4. How strategies are shared
- An instructor shares a strategy of their own with the whole classroom or with one group. While it is shared, the instructor cannot change it, so every student studies the same rules.
- Each student receives their own copy. A student can open and test the copy, but cannot change it, or share it with anyone inside or outside the classroom.
- Where the instructor allows it, a student can make a version of their own from the copy, and keep it.
- When the instructor ends a share, or the student leaves, is removed, or moves out of the group it was shared with, the copies from that share are withdrawn. A version a student made of their own stays with the student.
- Students receive the strategy, not the instructor's results.
5. Who sees what
- Instructors and administrators see a student's user name, classroom, group and the class strategies the student holds. They do not see the student's e-mail address, profile details, other strategies or results.
- Students see their classroom, their group and the strategies shared with them. They do not see other students' work.
- Nothing in a classroom is public. Social is separate: see the Community Rules.
6. Seats and limits
A seat lets a student use the strategy builder and the backtest runner within the limits set for the institute: for example, how many runs a day and a month, how much history one run may cover, and how many runs and live runs may go at once. A student's own plan, if they have one, is used first, and the seat adds to it. The limits are agreed with the institute and may change.
7. The institute's part
- The institute decides who teaches and who studies, and makes sure every member is 18 or older.
- It is responsible for how its instructors use classrooms. Classrooms are for teaching: they must not be used to give investment advice, sell tips or signals, or promise returns. Strategies shown in a class are teaching examples, not recommendations (see the Risk Disclosure & No Advice).
- Instructors are responsible for what they share, and the Community Rules apply to it.
- Whether an instructor's strategies belong to the instructor or to the institute is for them to agree between themselves.
8. When an arrangement ends
If an institute's arrangement ends, or a classroom is closed, the copies shared in it are withdrawn. Every member keeps their own account, the versions they made of their own, and their own work: an account belongs to the person, not to the institute.
9. Personal data
Each member's data is handled under the Privacy Notice. We do not give an institute its members' e-mail addresses or profile details.
